After logging into the admin, a click on the Pages tab in the left nav results in a 40 second wait for something to happen. I am not ruling out a problem with my system configuration, but I have not had any problems with other frameworks that I use on a regular basis including Zend Framework, Symfony, CodeIgniter, and even the prior 2.4.x version of SS. FWIW, I am running Apache 2.2.19, PHP 5.3.6, MySQL 5.0.51a, Windows XP. What makes this product great is that it's intuitive and easy to build all of these things on your own, and make them work the way you want them to -- not the way some developer in Wellington says they should work.

Turnkey, "out-of-the-box" solutions should not be on SilverStripe's radar, IMO. There are plenty of other open source CMS's, which I'll leave unmentioned, that cater to that market. The new interface looks fantastic and is highly intuitive.

As for functionality, i am a bit dissapointed though. There are no extra possibilites out of the box(but maybe that's not the intention)For example: clients ask to put video on their website more and more, but this still has to be programmed manually. Setting a start and enddate for a page is very much asked for. Also slideshows, repeating dataobjects etc. It would be nice if some of this functionality would appear...

but again... it's still alpha-version of course.
