Anyone implemented the Events module?

I'm trying to throw together an RSVP system for a wedding on extremely short notice. Okay, it's mine. I'm trying the Events module that's still in Alpha status. Caveat emptor, obviously. I'm just wondering if anyone's managed to get it to work and under what conditions.
