Theme licensing

Hi, I was just browsing the themes collection, and recognized that there is actually no information as to how the themes are licensed. On the licensing page, you only state that the "core SilverStripe Web Application Framework" is falling under the BSD license.

But what does that mean for the themes? Am I free to use whichever theme I like on my site? Am I only allowed to use it if my site runs SilverStripe? Or can I modify it and use parts of that theme (especially the pictures, which might have a copyright) on my site? This would basically mean that the theme author waives all their copyrights on the theme the moment they upload it.

I would like to have some clarification on that issue.

Cheers, Blynx

Posted to: Theme licensing Show Thread | Post Reply
