Files and Images - very odd Link to this post

Just getting started here and am really enjoying the CMS so far. However, trying to add any images proves to be a bit odd.

    1. Uploading any image in the "Files and Images" section, always put it in the root of the assets folder.
    2. Even when the image is there, I see it in the CMS "Files and Images" section and via FTP, it doesn't show in the "Site Content" section. I tried putting it in subfolders, root folders, etc.

    1. File appears to be there:

    2. But doesn't show in here:

    Things that might be odd:
I'm putting this on a parked domain on a shared Linux server (godaddy.com). Don't fully understand the ramifications of doing this, but I ran into some issues during install on the parked domain, but not the main domain. I managed to alleviate these by putting an .htaccess file in the directory hosting the parked domain.
