Need HELP with Installation on LIGHTY (no not the installer package! )

Ok guys we switched hosting and tried to install the PHP - installer of SS on a lighty environment.
This turns out to be horror.
Is there anyone who can help me on this?
The install.php - file is not suited at all for lighty and I really don't know where to begin.
I already tried using the install.php -file from the SS- windows-lighty package, but this doesn't work either. I always get redirected to a 'hombrewn' 404.

We just have this line in lighttpd.conf for the windows installer:
server.error-handler-404 = "/sapphire/main.php"
It's not the most efficient way of redirecting to sapphire/main.php, but haven't had much luck trying to set up a rewrite rule for lighttpd.

Yeah I figured it out.
I threw away all the installer files from the normal php-installer and used the one from the lighty installer instead and the hosting company was so smart to add the line to it, I've sent them the .conf file.

dios5, can you please ensure that the installer documentation makes it easy for others to get it installed, then, to save them the trouble you underwent?
