Hello,
Is there some other way to change the look of the BreadCrumbs function than editing the sapphire core code?update: I added the function in mysite/Page.php and this works fine...but still my idea:
Would it be an idea to at least make the delimiter a variable in future versions?

good idea, just committed a patch (should be available in the daily builds tomorrow):
http://open.silverstripe.com/changeset/47634you can configure the delimiter in your _config.php:
SiteTree::breadcrumbs_delimiter = " | ";
