Trackbacks Feature in Blog Module?

Hi,
Why is it that the Blog module does not offer a Trackbacks feature, as most other Blog platforms do? I am in a position where this could be a dealbreaker.
Is anyone working on adding this? Or is there another technique we can use?

The blog module is pretty basic, no were near a fully fledged blog engine like WordPress but trackbacks would be a neat feature. I have made a ticket for it - http://open.silverstripe.com/ticket/2770 . I thought there would be one currently but couldnt see one
