.htaccess write access in windows Link to this post

Hi. I've just tried installing silverstripe on my windows development machine.

I get the following error message:    Unable to detect whether I can write to files. Please ensure C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/htdocs/.htaccess is writable.

How do I allow write access to the .htaccess file in windows XP running an Apache web server?

    Regards

Hmm.. not sure , but does windows XP protect it's program files directory?

If so, try moving the wwwroot directory to an alternative location (e.g. c:\htdocs or something).

Setting my Document Root to "c:\www" made no difference.

Once I had eliminated the other errors that were listed it let me install. Now I have other issues that I'll post about.

    Thanks Anyway.
