I use a company called 'Heartinternet' for all of my hosting. I can create new databases however all new database names are prefixed with 'web32-'+ whatever name I choose. I created a databse called ss_mysite which was then given the name web32-my_site by my hosting company. When I try to enter this in the initial install page for 'SilverStripe' in the 'MySql Database' field the '-' is automatically removed hence I can go no further with the install.

Any help would be appreciated. (e-mail me if you want)

Hey guys! I would appreciate any type of response to my previous post. If it is an issue that can not be easily resolved then it will prevent me from using SilverStripe on my clients sites and as such I need to know how this issue is going to develop A.S.A.P. so that I can decide if I need to start evaluating other CMS systems.

Regards.

Jonathan.

I am an experienced php/js programmer and don't mind if I have modify part of the framework code to resolve my problem with enetering a db name that contains '-' within its content. Not wanting to break anything within my install, if you could direct me to the input validation / regex etc or whatever piece of code that is removing the '-' from my db name entry attempts and I will willingly look at the problem myself.

I tried what Fuzz10 suggested and all is now working fine on my remote server installation.

Thanks again to all.
