I'm working through the tutorial (brilliant idea leaving all that out btw) and I've never had to use the flush parameter which makes me wonder if my site isn't caching.
What is the location of the cache?

Its normally /tmp/
I haven't looked at the code to see if it hardcoded there of it uses some logic to find the best temporary file location...
I know some people who have changed it because of Safe Mode limitations on their webserver.
