image attachment as described in tutorial 2 not working

I installed silverstripe at my webserver on freepgs. Everything works, but uploaded images are not resampled and not visible on the website. In assets directory the pictures show up up, but in CMS the image frame is empty, and _resampled subdir is empty too.
gd is installed as seen in http://bernschneider.plesk4.freepgs.com/test/php/test.php.
Can anyone help?
