I need help getting SS to work on a development system. My system is window xp pro
with serve pack 2 using WAMP 2.0 . I am part of home workgroup. The problem I am having is when I install SS I get

Is the .htaccess file writeable?
Unable to detect whether I can write to files.
Please ensure C:/www/cms/.htaccess is writable.
Is the mysite/ folder writeable?
Unable to detect whether I can write to files.
Please ensure C:/www/cms/mysite is writable.
Is the tutorial/ folder writeable?
Unable to detect whether I can write to files.
Please ensure C:/www/cms/tutorial is writable.
Is the assets/ folder writeable?
Unable to detect whether I can write to files.
Please ensure C:/www/cms/assets is writable.
Even if by passing this and install anyway and go to SS admin. The admin then timeout, or if I go default page SS throw errors when trying to go into site
I have search the forums and found similar install problem. The fix I found do not work for me.

One fix was to change seruity in folder options. On my system I do not have folder options or a seruity tab

I'm using the same dev setup and havn't ecountered this. Are you getting any errors.

The one problem I had with install on this setup is getting an internal 500 error after installation. This was fixed by commenting out the "BaseDir" line in .htaccess.

You didn't get an other errors or warnings during installation? Make sure you have all the required modules installed on WAMP too: http://doc.silverstripe.com/doku.php?id=server-requirements

Cheers
