I have the entire thing in /xp/silverstripe-v2.2.2/
and I want to move it to /
now I can move it there easily but it won't work and so I know I have to edit some files to get it to work but I dunno which ones -

I have a full working version of my site I developed locally and I too require instructions on how to deploy the site content and files to a new hosting location.
Any info on how to export SS would be appreciated.

famous, assuming you installed 2.2.2, you'll need to edit the RewriteBase in .htaccess, and that should be it. You should be able to remove the line entirely, so that you can move it easily.
sherman, you'll have to export the database, then import it on your host and change mysite/_config.php to contain the new settings. You may need to edit .htacces as well if the paths are different and you have a RewriteBase.
