Installation problem Link to this post

I am a little new to this as I come from a design background.

I am getting this with the installation process:

mod_rewrite is enabled in your httpd.conf
AllowOverride is enabled for the current path.

How do I make sure mod_rewrite is enabled? Open the httpd.conf file then ...?
How do I enable the AllowOverride for the current path? httpd.conf as well?

    Thanks for your help.

Had another go at this and found some info. So for any other Mac users that may run into this here is the solution. Cheers:

Alternatively, you could try using a pre-built (and contained) server environment like MAMP or XAMPP...

For me, MAMP was installed in 5 minutes (with a few tweaks to the php.ini file - like changing the memory limit and error reporting levels), then another few minutes to install SilverStripe...

    Cheers,
    Sean
