I've used SSP on a handful of projects before, but always with director so this is my first time messing with the standalone version.

As far as I know according to the readme file in the standalone folder, you don't generate a flash file, just use the one that is already in there and edit the param.xml file. The standalone folder comes setup ready to use with customization in the param.xml file and says is for developers without Flash.

I don't remember there ever being a loader.swf but its been just under year since I developed with it.

I'm grappling with this as well - I'm not sure I have everything set up right (what is the trunk?) can someone tell me what the folders should look like?

The parameter XML seems to be OK:

But an error generates from the images?
