User Defined form not sending email

Hi all,
I have a site with a user defined contact form on it. We are having the daily problem of submissions not being emailed to the address specified in the "Email Submissions to" box in the CMS.
Yet the submissions are saved under the "Submissions" tab in the CMS.
If I "Save and Publish" the page, and test the form again, the emails start coming though again. But this is never for more than a day.
The email address is not going missing from the box in the CMS either.
Anyone had the same problem?
