Subsite Module themes and templates

I know how to set a different theme for a particular Subsite, however I do not know how the template system works. I am able to add Subsites and Subsite_templates but do not know how to use the templates and where they should be place.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Actually, what is the logic behind the Subsite_templates? when I add a Subsite_template it adds another subsite which is also selectable from the top right dropdown menu and is shown in the list of subsites as "* title domain". How are they used and what makes them different from a regular Subsite?
Anyone using this module?
