Permission-based external viewing...is it possible? Link to this post

I am considering using your CMS for an internal site for our company. I want to use the login widget partnered with the External Authentication module to grant access to the site. Along with that, I am questioning whether or not I can grant viewing access to certain pages externally (not from the CMS but from the published site)? Is this possible? If so, how?

Yes, this is pretty straight forward. There is an 'access' tab for each page. From here you can limit who can see the page by groups. You setup groups in the security section of the CMS, add users to it, then allow groups to view specific pages.

Look in the demo if need be to test things out.

Assuming I'm understanding your post. You want the live site to have pages viewed by certain logged in members.

Thanks LeeUmm! That is exactly what I am trying to accomplished. Perhaps I confused myself. I thought the access function was for admin privileges and not viewing privileges. Can it be both?

Yup. You can see there is an option for who can view the page, and who can edit the page. The viewing the page are for members outside of the CMS admin area. Editing is obviously in the CMS.

Great! What a relief. Related question: If I define the users within the CMS, yet I am using external authentication, do I need to mirror the usernames from the external logins to associate with groups for access privileges?
