Renamed install directory admin stopped working

Hello all,
I am having a strange problem, I installed SS built a site and everything is good, then I wanted to rename the installation directory which I did and subsequently the RewriteBase directive in the .htaccess file, the site works but when I go to admin and login it just hangs on the silverstripe logo loading and never brings up the cms, if I revert things back then its all good again.
Any ideas as to why the cms won't function if the install directory is changed, did I miss a config thing?
