Meta-Data blank URL breaking validation in IE

Hi
Meta-Data blank URL seems to be breaking validation in IE, when I leave it blank. If I leave it blank in FF a box pops up and asks for an url to be entered. IE seems to get stuck in a loop and the only way to get out is kill process.I am trying to either fix the validation popup loop or remove validation altogether for the time being. Any ideas please?
