Hi All,

I'm a web designer of several years doing pretty simple html sites. But now I have several clients who really would benefit from a CMS. I've dabbled with a couple of other OpenSource CMS (you know the "biggies") just enough to know that there was no way in he** I wanted to use them. :-)

I found SilverStripe just today through searching...and have been looking around the site. I was really excited about it until I looked at the Tutorial section...and to be honest it got me a little intimidated. So I wanted to just post here real quick and see if you all really are happy with your choice in using SS?

For starters all I want to do is just pick a theme that's close to the layout I want and then just change a few graphics here and there...then hopefully if all goes well to then become more proficient and customize things even more.

I appreciate your feedback...and any suggestions on where a newbie would start.

If you are just creating basic content driven websites (like the ones you would use Contribute for) then out of the box SS is very easy to get started with.

On the other hand if you need anything more complex then SS has a steeper learning curve being PHP5 you really need a good understanding of Object Orientated Programming and the SS internals (Sapphire).

SS seems to have a great Community which is also important so I am sure you will receive help from this forum when requested.

[Edit] I forgot to mention that SS also has pre-built modules such as Forum, Blog, Gallery to name a few. also a lot of themes to get you started.
