Blank pages after install

After running installation process I get a blank screen when I run the default installed site or attempt to access the admin area. www.emcom.biz/silverstripe

I've reinstalled 3 times.

FYI, I had to manually add SetEnv DEFAULT_PHP_VERSION 5 to my .htacess filÃƒÂ© to run php5. If I remove this I get the
"Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STATIC, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR..." error

This is strange!.

Blank pages were only with Firefox.

IE & Chrome were fine.

When I then revisited with Firefox I noticed that if I entered emcom.biz/silverstream into my address bar it changed to emcom.biz/silverstream/?url=silverstream and now the site is accessible and correct url.

Any ideas?
