dataobject - 'show' problem

Hi,
I have a dataobject what contains over 40 items.
I'm allowed to add/edit and delete objects.
The problem lies with when I click to view (small, magnifying glass) the object I receive an error 500 page?!
Does anybody know what could be causing this??
The strange thing is, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't ( i know, the worst problem to solve!).
