Summer is coming to an end and it's time to preview the multilingual content feature and the module translation UI, parts of the Silverstripe i18n project.
The multilingual content feature allows a web admin to translate their pages and thus have different versions of the site in different languages. This translated content shares some properties with the original version (e.g. access permission) but some other fields are defined as translatable and can be individually changed.
The module translation UI is a place where module developers can submit a generated master language file and translators can translate these strings to their languages. These translations can be then downloaded and used to display Silverstripe's modules in other languages than English.
I'm attaching some screenshots and these features can also be tested at my test site (http://test.silverstripe.com/bfojcapell).

your translation tools look fantastic
with the right people this will surely make translating a site very quick and intuitive

Hey Bernat, this sounds fantastic - however your demo site had a number of PHP error on it when I visited so I couldn't try it out (screen shots look great however!)
Re getting people to start helping out with translations, take a look at this thread - you may want to invite some people to come and lend a hand;
Also - is there any current way of "publishing" or "downloading" translations from a central server? I'm thinking specifically of the case if there is more than one person working on a translation, or if someone downloads a 50% completed translation, then someone else completes the translations, the person with the 50% complete translation should be notified there is a more complete version available.
I suspect there is currently nothing, and this is something we need to in the brooder context in regards to maintaining modules.

Tim, if I understood well, you are asking for something like the "subscribe to topic" forum option but for translations, that would keep you updated in case you are looking for a new translation version. This would be a great feature, you're right. And maybe it could make even more sense if it's developed using rss feeds. In this way somebody who is waiting for a large update won't be emailed every time that a small correction is done, and they can easily decide when to stop monitoring these changes.

Bernat, just had a play with your tools on the main site, and it looks really great.
Is there a way to choose the language of the CMS, e.g. by a dropdown at the CMS login page, or in your preferences, etc?

May come in handy if we decide to further jazz up the interface. Used by Pownce.com , which I learnt about from reading up about BarCampBlock, held recently in San Francisco.
