URLs in subpages

Seems that when you're in a subpage, SS makes the url as
http://www.something.com/subpage/
instead of
http://www.something.com/page/subpage/
Will this be changed in the next version or maybe someone has a nice solution to this
instead of starting to change the url rewriting rules myself..Thanks.. sorry for all the questions here

hi,
not sure if there is a particular reason why you have to have page/subpage as you cannot specify the / character for your page url. What you could do is use the hyphen so you could have www.mysite.com/page-subpage1 and www.mysite.com/page-subpage2 if you wanted and this fullfilled your needs.
You specify this in the meta-data tab in the cms.

No, not any particular reason, it just seems the most logical to me, and the most common and easy to...
I suppose I could do your suggestion, but this would become cumbersome when you're getting in deep levels.

just curious and not that I'm an expert but why is - different than / except that / is the norm and associated with directory structures?
Does it make any difference to users of a site if its all controlled from site and menu links.
I'd be interested from an understanding point of view what it is you are trying to achieve.

Good question.
I believe you have answered the question yourself. I think it's because / is the norm and associated with directories.
I find myself - now I'm speaking personal - surfing through a site by just cutting and pasting parts of an url and treating it like a directory.
Probably it's just because I'm used to this kind of structure. A lot of sites use it like this.
I find it to be easier too: suppose a website with photos per country and state.
http://www.mysite.com/photos/usa/quebec/photoThis would make sense to me. A lot of uses would then go back to the index of usa by cutting off the /quebec/photo part, at least I would. Maybe because we treat it as some kind of directory too.

I've just started using Silverstripe and I am currently still evaluating it to see if it fit my needs. I really like this CMS and hope I will be able to use it for my project which is quite large.
One function I need is to be able to create URL's like http://www.mysite.com/sweden/stockholm/about/subject/
This is very important for me, as if it is not possible, I'm afraid I have to find another CMS.I found some good news at http://www.silverstripe.com/up-and-coming-features-aug2008/ about the new improved URL handler.
I installed the trunk silverstripe.2.0.DailyBuild.2008-09-04.tar.gz but can't figure out how to implement the new URL handler.
Is the new URL handler included in this DailyBuild? and if so how do I activate it?

This feature isn't in the daily builds. That blog post only meant there is a new URL handler that will make implementing sub-level URLs for pages easier. This means that what you're after isn't quite possible at this point in time.
May I ask what your reason is for having this feature?
