Question regarding the file/folder ownership requirement during installation

22 May 2008 at 8:12pm
This probably is an isolated problem - for me as WebDrive.co.nz user.
Everytime when I install the SS, the folders for "assets", "mysite" and "tutorial" as well as ".htaccess" file will need to be writable for group "nobody". Which by default when uploading via CuteFTP (or FTP), the permission is "755" for folders, and "644" for files. The ownerships are $me/user/other. And it seems like SS installation prefer it to be $me/nobody/other.
Why is this the case? Can the installation to proceed with using "other" instead of "nobody" or group ownership?
I might be babbling absolutely nonsense but it boggled me.
Thanks for your patience.
