Using v2.1,

Running Cent OS 5,
Apache 2.2,
MySQL 5

I cannot upload any files or images. I've assigned write access rights to all for the assets folder. Error came up as soon as I press upload:

ERROR:
Error
The website server has not been able to respond to your request.

Not very helpful... is there a way to debug this? I see someone having trouble with 2.2 in Linux environment as well in Trac.

Regards

Found the problem, not only does the assets and everything else under it needs write access but it also need execute write... so it's a 777 for me to make it work.

Now I have to go into SSH to chown it to apache! if I didn't have SSH acccess = huge security risk.

Please refer to here

In which I had said you should be able to do a mkdir using a php script such that the directory is owned and accessible by apache instead of the ftp user.

Regards.
