I'm new to SS and want to try the blog module. The installation steps link on the main blog module page is broken. How do I install it?

Hi bostonmark - welcome to the forum.

I'll report the broken link - in the mean time you can see a simple explanation here http://www.sslearn.info/sslearn/installing-silverstripe-module-themes/.

Basically you just put the blog folder in the root of your site directory (i.e. in the same folder as assists, cms etc...) then visit http://www.yoursite.com/dev/build which will automatically update the database.

If you are just starting with SilverStripe I would recommend doing the written tutorials as they will give you a good base. Also it's worth noting that if your site is primarily going to be a blog then the CMS Wordpress may be more suitable - although I wouldn't say that to loudly round here ;)

Howard, you don't have to whisper that here. ;) Silverstripe is mainly used as a tool by professional developers and we recognize that there are extremely good reasons to use Wordpress instead in some cases.
