Hi,

Working with my first official install of SS 3 now -- installed Blog module v0.6rc1 -- installed fine however there is no Widgets tab now -- the page that allowed you the Archive option, the tag cloud, etc. Also doesn't appear on the Settings tab for the Blog holder. In fact, there isn't even a sidebar at all for these to live in. Is there something I need to know in order to use these widgets?

Thanks,
Garrett

Garrett,

the same problem here, i was able to update the tables from prior installation (i see all the posts, tags, etc, correctly) but i don't have the config tab for the widgets... plus, look and feel from my blog appears to be broken, it seems like the blog won't load the theme i've designed (wich was working fine on SS 2.4, you can see it working www.eduardocesario.com/blog)

any help it will be much apreciatted!

regards!

eduardo

I recommend you read the extensive upgrade notes provided with 3.0, very good reading if you haven't done a lot of upgrades. Widgets is now a separate module from core which you'll need to install :)

Hi Willr --

Can't seem to locate those upgrade notes you're talking about. I did manage to install comments thanks to you. As for Widgets, located that on Github, installed, rebuilt, flushed, and I get the Widgets tab but there is nothing to do on that page -- nothing is clickable or draggable (screenshot attached). Any ideas? Most importantly, where are these "upgrade notes"?

Thanks,
Garrett

Willr,

I use to read all the stuff related updates, i'm working with this CMS from long time ago...
I've saw what you comment here (the widgets as a separate module), but overall, the thing is a bit confusing: is not so clear for me the documentation, in the blog module download page doesn't clarify this point.
I think documentation is better now than the old days, but still is not friendly, there's a lot of wikis and info around the site.

So i would love to know wich additional module i should download for this to work.

thank you very much,

Eduardo

CriaturaCreativaStudio - as I said, the widget module (http://www.silverstripe.org/widgets-module/). If the blog documentation doesn't say something raise it as an issue on the github page https://github.com/silverstripe/silverstripe-blog/issues/new to ensure that it gets fixed.

Upgrade notes are available at http://doc.silverstripe.org/framework/en/trunk/changelogs/3.0.0

Thanks as always @willr!

By the way, I am being forced to do this project on 2.4.7 because of several difficulties replacing the functionality of the DataObjectManager, upon which I rely heavily every day, with the GridField class-- namely that it doesn't have drag & drop sorting (for front-end display). Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Garrett

@Garrett https://github.com/UndefinedOffset/SortableGridField

Most major projects I'm currently building are still on 2.4 so you're not alone, 3.0 at this stage still seems too alphaish for me but if you notice things missing in the docs or finding yourself stuck raise a ticket.
