Number of posts on blog holder reverting to 1 month.

When you first open the blog, how many entries should I show?
When I change this to anything other than one month, then publish and then reload the page, it is reverting to 1 month.
I updated to the latest trunk with no effect. It's possible I monkied with the template files to some ill effect but I have no clue where to look.
Anyone else seen this happen? Not getting any errors, just cant get more than 1 month of enries to show.
