After much anticipation the new SilverStripe.org site went live today. It’s been a long road but as they say good things take time!

Back in 2012 we canvassed the community looking for feedback, with many community members participating in user testing to reveal improvements needed. Whilst it took a while to turn this great feedback into action, a dedicated team was formed this year. They have been working hard behind the scenes to bring the new site to life.

In true agile style - this is just the beginning! Updates will be highly iterative, with incremental improvements coming rapidly after initial release.

We want the site to be a great place for the SilverStripe community now and into the future. To ensure this we want to know your thoughts on the updated design (and ideas you have to keep improving it). Either leave a comment below or use the feedback button on the site. We are using Usabilla so you can easily comment on specific sections as well as providing general feedback. This will be used to guide future development so make sure you let us know what you think!

  • Great job on the new site. It looks up-to-date and shows off the quality of this awesome open source project.

Only 2 things that bothered me a little bit is the small font size of the navigation and the layout of the forum threads. For some reason it doens't read "well" i think the column width is too big and the text could be a bit bigger, just as big as the text off the comments on this page. Maybe split forum posts into 2 columns (1 small column with avatar, username and all the other meta) and 1 bigger column for the post itself. Just like the old ones but with the updated look and feel ofcourse.

  • Are there any plans to change the forum layout? Code is rather unreadable on there now!

  • Well done on an awesome update! Especially enjoying the scroll+fade transition, sticky menu treatment, and stencil work on the coffee.
