Linux Conference 2011 (LCA) is being held in Brisbane from January 24-29, and representing SilverStripe will be Shane Weddell from SilverStripe Australia. I was all set to write about our plans for the conference, until it started raining and raining in Brisbane, and the city flooded.

The conference is still happening, but not at its original venue. Instead, it's being held at the Queensland University of Technology - Kelvin Grove campus, which is unfortunately 4km out of the central city, but still has good transportation available. To keep things simple after all the uncertainty of whether or not the conference would still happen, I figured I'd only ask  Shane three questions about the conference.

1. Why is SilverStripe going to LCA?

Primarily we are going to learn from others in the open source community and to be able to raise awareness about SilverStripe ourselves. Now, as a born and bred Brisbanite myself, I have a secondary motive which will be to support the financial recovery of Brisvegas through bolstering the cash flow of the local retailers by shouting a coffee or beer for as many attendees as possible. As I won't be able to attend the entire conference myself I have enlisted the help of Adam Stead from our QLD official partner Hive.net.au

2. How can other attendees there find us to talk to about SilverStripe?

Use Twitter, Adam @hivenetau and Shane @shaneweddell, or feel free to email me or call. shane@silverstripe.com.au 0401 060634. Please state preference for beer or coffee. We will also be at the open day on Saturday 29th.

3. What presentations/bits of the conference are you personally most looking forward to?

The beer or coffee........

See you there!
