Here we go again! Show your support by nominating SilverStripe CMS in PacktPub's annual Open Source Awards
.
Your nomination will help us to secure our position as a finalist, which in turn allows us to secure money we can devote on furthering our open source project. Gaining a good position in the PacktPub awards also helps us to spread awareness of SilverStripe CMS, which fuels adoption and encourages growth in our developer community. All this adds up to making SilverStripe an even better CMS!
As part of the recent CMS Expo in Chicago, we held SilverStripe Awards to celebrate the amazing work being done by our community. We encouraged everyone to enter, and were thrilled that there were nearly sixty entrants for the eight categories.
The awards were judged by a panel independant of SilverStripe Ltd, and were announced at the end of the expo. Awards were given to companies from Europe, the UK, USA, Canada and New Zealand - a good spread around the world.
The meetup bandwagon is continuing to roll out around the world!
We've had write-ups after recent events in Melbourne, Utrecht and London, and there's still more meetups to come.
We're running some SilverStripe Awards, in conjunction with the CMS Expo, and we want you to enter. You, your website, or your company may be a worthy entrant - or you may know of someone else who should win.
Nominations are open until April 20. There are a lot of categories, and they fall into three groups:
We picked up a trophy for you last night, so feel free to come into our office to touch it. The New Zealand Open Source Awards were held in Wellington, and the SilverStripe CMS won NZ Open Source Project.
Accepting on behalf of everyone who's worked on SilverStripe CMS, Brian Calhoun has this to say about the win: "This award is all about our amazing open source community. Not just our community of individual developers, but our community of partner and developer network companies spread throughout the planet. We have over 160 companies out there right now (and those are just the ones we know about) developing solutions for their clients on the SilverStripe open source platform. And they're doing more than building commercial sites. They're contributing back to the open source product which benefits everyone. We're extremely honoured to win this award and accept it on behalf of our community."
For the fourth year in a row, SilverStripe has been recognised by the Packtpub Open Source Awards, and is one of the five finalists in the category of Open Source CMS.
What's particularly exciting about these awards is that they are a mix between a public vote and a judging panel.

Every year Packt Publishing, a tech book publisher, runs a global award for the best open source CMS. In 2009, SilverStripe had its best result yet.
The Packt CMS Award is a major award: many thousands of people around the world rate their favourite CMS, before judges thoroughly evaluate the most popularly voted software. There is no more significant worldwide competition that rates open source or proprietary content management platforms, so we're very proud of our year-on-year progress:
