As part of the recent CMS Expo in Chicago, we held SilverStripe Awards to celebrate the amazing work being done by our community. We encouraged everyone to enter, and were thrilled that there were nearly sixty entrants for the eight categories.
The awards were judged by a panel independant of SilverStripe Ltd, and were announced at the end of the expo. Awards were given to companies from Europe, the UK, USA, Canada and New Zealand - a good spread around the world.
In May, SilverStripe is going to the 2011 CMS Expo Learning & Business Conference in Chicago.
People like to talk about SilverStripe face to face. Our amazing community has taken it upon itself to arrange meetups in several countries, complementing the meetups we run in Wellington.
All events are free to attend, let you meet others using and developing with SilverStripe CMS, and cover a range of topics, including discussing the features in our next major upcoming software release, SilverStripe CMS v3.0. We hope you can make it to one!
This week, the website and intranet managers for over one hundred of America's large companies, universities, and government agencies are meeting in Philadelphia at the annual Janus Boye Conference.
By and large, the types of organisations represented at the conference are yet to progress to modern, open source CMS platforms, so we're excited to feature at the conference for the second year and show them what exists in the market.
A free event for people interested in open source software will be held at the Wellington Town Hall this Saturday, 23 January. Running from 11am to 2pm, the open day is a rare opportunity to meet key people from around the world committed to the open source movement.
The day comprises exhibition booths showcasing open source software, a number of talks, and fun activities for kids as well as hardware and software hackers. The open day is the final event in the week-long Linux.Conf.Au conference, which has placed Wellington at the epicenter of the global open source movement. We hope to see you there - you'll find us at table number 15.
Wellington web designers and frontend coders have recently formed a monthly post-work event, the Wellington Web Meetup.
SilverStripe is supporting this month's meetup, which will be held at 6pm on Thursday, 12 November at our offices on Level 4, 97-99 Courtenay Place.
On Sunday, 20 September, Wellington will play host to Software Freedom Day 09. SilverStripe is very proud to be one of the sponsors of this important event.
Software Freedom Day is an annual worldwide celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). The principles that underpin FOSS are expressed in four essential freedoms: the users' freedom to run, study, distribute, and improve the software.
Thanks to the initiative of one of our community members, Aucklanders now have a monthly SilverStripe event. Hamish Campbell, a longtime member of our developer community has started a monthly SilverStripe Auckland meetup.
