I like what SS has to offer as a CMS, however, I don't see many extensions or modules to choose from. I am looking for rotating banners, slideshows, full Real Estate capabilities such as search, view, request more info, the ability to link the form to an outside email address etc. Is it possible to find these elsewhere and link them in SS if SS does not provide these? If so, what is the best most trusted source and how do I link them in? Thank you.

SilverStripe has many extensions but is also surprisingly easy to develop more extensions for. Have you seen all the modules at http://www.silverstripe.org/modules?

Specifically for you the rotating banners and slideshows can just be included in the template with a lil bit of javascript. There is a nice tutorial here http://www.ssbits.com/tutorials/2009/working-with-banners/

I don't know of any real estate module but I imagine that once you get a wee bit better at SilverStripe it wouldn't be too hard to develop.
