2.3 isnt due till near the end of the year and I wouldn't rely on that to be the magic bullet to all the speed issues but it should make things a bit less bulky.

I have to agree, it takes extremly long! I tried it with different systems (local and public webservers) and different browsers and always the same behavior.

I like the idea and functions behind silverstripe and would like to use this CMS for a big company webpage but with this loading time it's sadly no perspective.

Are there any ideas or workarounds to make the backend faster?

Do you have mod_deflate enabled in your Apache2 installation? This will mean that certain content types like javascript or even images are transferred with gzip-compression, which makes a huge difference. At the moment we're not doing any minification or on-demand loading of javascript as well, so there's lots of opportunity to improve still.
