Over the past few weeks we've had a number of offers to translate the SilverStripe CMS into other languages which has been extremely gratifying.

Currently we don't have support for other languages, however it sounds like this is a feature we may need to fast track given the demand for a non English administration interface.

If you are able to assist translating SilverStripe into other languages, reply to this post, with the languages which you would be willing to translate for.

I'll get in touch with everyone who replies in the next few weeks about what needs to happen to get that ball rolling :-)

I regret I cannot help with translations, but I do have a request in this area.

Is it/will it be possible to have more than one language display on a page at the same time:
For instance, English/Chinese (either/both traditional and simplified)
English/Maori
English/Thai

I have a use with multi-cultural clients where dictionary translations on the page would be very useful.

Ken, are you referring to the interface elements (the titles of all the text fields, etc) or to the content being authored by users of the CMS?

Putting 2 labels on each interface element would clutter things up a lot and would be difficult to do well. It would probably be easier to have an quick way of switching between a few different languages.

Would that provide what you're after?

Sam&Tim, a possibility to provide the same content in different languages is very important f.e. in Germany. Usually for a "professional cooperate" website, its critical to have at least rudimentary versions of English ( and often france too ).

I am not so much looking at the interface, but the ability to place multiple languages on the displayed page for the end user. For instance, to create something like an English/Chinese or English/Maori dictionary would be an extreme example. If alt/title tags could also display multiple languages that would be great, but not the major "want" for me.
