I have installed the blog module from here:

I have uploaded some widgets to the root and have done a dev/build?flush=1
The blog shows up in the CMS but there is no widgets tab. When I click on the blog on the website it says:
Blog
Generated with the default ContentController.ss template

Have you tried to do a flush=all ???

try renaming the blackcandy_blog to youtheme_blog in your themes folder.
