Is there a way to configure ImageDataObjectManager to just save all the relationships and not have the step where extra info can be added? Most of the time I don't need to add any extra info.

I think you want ImageAssetManager. Just don't forget to either subclass or decorate the Image class so you can add the has_one back to your page class.

But honestly, MultipleImageUploadField is a much more practical solution.
