What you are describing is expected behaviour for SS forms.
The form handler should not be a method of the form. It should be a method of the controller class.
To be honest, I'm not having to guess at what the problems are. Do you have a public URL that I can look at to get a bit of a better understanding of what is going wrong?

UPDATE: I have fixed. Or to put it better, used a different approach. Thanks again for you help Pigeon.
