Seriously through... Is there no way to filter the search results on this forum by date to get rid of posts that are 4 years old?

There are a couple of things I'd suggest as well, and I'd do it as an enhancement on open.silverstripe.org - or maybe github as that is where the forum code will be hosted now.
As an alternate - just use google and throw in the word silverstripe, ssbits or leftandmain to to use whatever specifers google allows...
You can order by date - e.g http://silverstripe.org/forums/search/?Search=search&order=date but no filter.
