I'm building the site at the moment and the client has bought a webcam which they want to be viewable on the site. The site is on a linux server but the code for the camera manufacturer uses ActiveX and doesnt work.

What is the best way to get it working?

ActiveX is supported by IE and it's not server related.

Hi,

for displaying a static picture in a page the webcam should send a jpg snapshot every X minutes to a server, so you can include it as a normal picture.

I guess you need ActiveX for PTZ control of the cam. Normally you open a new window (or an iframe) which points directly to the cams ip-adress or URL.
