can i install inside a folder on the website?

hi - I have an active website which I don't want to take down until silverstripe is up and running. Can i get it to install in a folder inside root?

I do not believe this is possible. If you can set up a subdomain for testing and development, that would work.

Yes,you and we can!

I have several Silverstripe installations in subfolders down from wwwroot. With some tweaking in .htaccess (copying to wwwroot and modifying) its even possible to switch later on in to some kind of production mode and use one of the installations from a subfolder redirected to wwwroot.
