error on install 2.44

After getting nowhere trying to upgrade to 2.43 on my site( see post on upgrade)
I wiped evrything including the database and have tried to install 2.44 without success.
I added the 2.44 patch by Sean
all requirements ok on install screen then this error.....

[User Error] Uncaught Zend_Cache_Exception: cache_dir is not writable
POST /install.php

Line 208 in /var/www/vhosts/kentishweald.co.uk/httpdocs/sapphire/thirdparty/Zend/Cache.php

I have made all Zend writable
I already had `silverstripe-cache` which is being written to
I added siverstripe-cache to zend/../file.php, as suggested by a couple of posts, to no avail

ps: checking the mysql database brings up these errors...

Problems with indexes of table `ErrorPage_versions`
UNIQUE and INDEX keys should not both be set for column `RecordID`
Problems with indexes of table `RedirectorPage_versions`
UNIQUE and INDEX keys should not both be set for column `RecordID`
Problems with indexes of table `SiteTree_versions`
More than one INDEX key was created for column `RecordID`
Problems with indexes of table `VirtualPage_versions`
UNIQUE and INDEX keys should not both be set for column `RecordID`

Can anyone help please
