Hello, I am new to SS. I have ftp'd all files over & created the write permissions on the necessary folders. After accessing the URL where I have SS installed, I receive an error regarding the database username, id/password...etc. Can you help. I need to get this install up & running by this weekend.

Does the server exist Can't find the a MySQL server on 'localhost': Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
Are the access credentials correct That username/password doesn't work: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
Can I access/create the database I can't create new databases and the database 'SS_mysite' doesn't exist (user 'root' doesn't have CREATE DATABASE permissions.)

I've manually created a database on my host server along w/priviledges to the user name. Also, I have tried entering this settings in the install.php and reloading via the ftp (to no avail)......HELP!!!!

I am having the same problem on my macbook pro. I can connect find with mysql tools and I can create databases tables and everything. I even tried using root account and it still does not work.

Has anyone figured this out?

I am having the same problem as well, has someone figured out how to work this out ?
There is a slight difference for me, I have this error:

Does the server exist Can't find the a MySQL server on 'localhost': Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111)
Are the access credentials correct That username/password doesn't work: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111)
Can I access/create the database I can't create new databases and the database 'turfcarespecialists_co_uk_db' doesn't exist (user 'pat' doesn't have CREATE DATABASE permissions.)
