I am trying to install SS 2.3.1 on Linux / Apache.
I uploaded SS 2.3.1 tar.gz file in my public_html and unipped it there which got into silverstripe2.3.1 folder.
Then I renamed it to silverstripe.
Now when I type http://www."mysite".com/ or http://www."mysite".com/silverstripe nothin i displayed.

Am getting no idea whats happening. Help me out.

Thanks in advance.

I would like to make it clear:

AN ERROR PAGE APPEARS WITH THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE

Bad Request
Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.41 Server at careercomputer.in Port 80

Does your server meet the minimum server requirements? http://doc.silverstripe.org/doku.php?id=server-requirements

Thanks willr... for your attention.
And yes, I checked the server requirements and I am quite sure it fulfills all of them. However, I am somewhat confused about the Apache stuff..
In the page linked above I found... Apache 1.3+/2.0+/2.2+ with mod_rewrite and the ability to set rewriting rules in .htaccess files via "Allow Override"...
can you please clarify this....
I mean
1. Many versions of Apache mentioned: what does it mean ?
2. How to set rewriting rules in .htaccess ?
3. I dont have access to httpd.conf (I didnt saw it when I went to my web space through file manages in cpanel with hidden files shown). How do I enable that mod_rewrite module.

FYI I installed SS 2.3.1 on Apache 2.2.9 in my Lappy (as localhost). There I didnt do anything to .htaccess and copy pasted the directory directive example in httpd.conf.
