Hello

Are there any plans to implement a basic version management for silverstripe extensions?

At least a list of all installed extensions with their version numbers would be a help. Each upgrade is of ss is complicated because you have to keep an eye on the assets, mysite and themes directory, to keep user-modified or uploaded files. You have to keep an eye on modules and their version numbers. For that you have to know which directories are part of the ss base release and which directories are modules.

What about...

  • A new page in the admin interface which shows all extensions and their version numbers and other information?

  • A defined interface (some kind of a extension base class or a extension info class, currently I do not know sapphires class hierarchy enough to make a concrete suggestion) for extensions which provides information about version, creator, download, required ss version, download url etc.

  • The possibility to install, upgrade, deactivate, uninstall extensions from within the admin interface

Best regards
