Insert image pane does not show images

Sometimes (not always) the image pane does not show any images. Clicking the insert image button opens the pane and it shows folders and sub-folders, but their contents are not shown, so I can't show any images.
Sometimes the issue corrects itself overnight.
Is this a server issue, something in SS, or am I missing something somewhere?
Tried clearing browser cache, logging off, restarting browser.
Mac OS 10.6.1 Firefox 3.5.3
