How to Customise Search Results?

Morning
I'd like the have my search results return the MetaDescription of a page if it exists rather than the default behaviour of returning some of the content.
Is there any way to do this without hacking the core code?

Hi experts,
Is it possible to customise silverstripe's search results? I need to match the searchstring with content of dataobject properties, but at the same time default functionality of the silverstripe search.
