autocomplete field in model admin

Hey UncleCheese and SS-ites,
I'm currently setting up a site that I'd love to use your autocomplete field for. It's working beautifully in a popup in the ModelAdmin, but it doesnt work on an object edited directly in the Model Admin. Have you gotten this field working in a ModelAdmin instance?

Has anyone had any experience with this? Anyone tried to include it in the ModelAdmin? I'm assuming it has something to do with javascript execution and the field not being given some functionality
